Great Bible Study!

I am a First Place leader who completed this study in April 2002. My group of 20+ men and women really enjoyed it. Our group lost a total of 200 pounds this session, but many members have said that the thing they enjoy the most about the program is the Bible study. I've completed this one before, but this edition has been re-vamped recently with new content. I think the changes are great! The music CD included with the book is very helpful in memorizing the 10 Bible verses. The music isn't the best in the world, but it can still be a helpful tool. The book comes with the wonderful study, tear-out commitment records, wellness worksheets and more. The first Bible study "Giving Christ First Place" is still my all-time favorite, but this one definitely runs a close 2nd.

This is the second of the First Place Bible studies that I have done. I find it easy to use, not consuming too much time, but providing MUCH food for thought. I especially love the CD's that accompany the studies that help with scripture memorization.

Best Study I've Done So Far

I have completed 4 studies in the First Place series and this one has been the best for me. I am a First Place leader, with a group of 12. Over the past 4 sessions, our group has lost over 200 pounds. Everyday Victory for Everyday People changed so many things in my life. We can have victory in Christ - no matter who we are or what our circumstances. I loved the Scripture Memorization CD - even my pre-teen daughter got into it! I personally lost almost 15 pounds during this 10 week study. You won't be disappointed with it.

A fine book about a U. S. Navy vessel on escort duty during World War II. Detailed story as the Captain undertakes to locate and sink Nazi submarines that are trying to torpedo the merchant vessels he is escorting on their voyage to England. The seamanship seems excellent. Numerous problems arise during the voyage. The book did not much need the Captain's remembrances of his divorced wife but, nevertheless, the book makes a fine sea story.

In 'Hansen's Children', the downfall of Nicolae Ceausescu's repressive control is witnessed from behind the walls of Europe's sole leper-colony. About the Author
Ognjen Spahic is the best-known member of the young generation of Montenegrin writers to have emerged since the collapse of former Yugoslavia. Spahic has published two collections of short stories: All That and Winter Search. I was moved and amazed by this novel. Will Firth's translation is brilliant and Spahić's writing is extraordinary. I would hesitate to focus exclusively on the grimness of the descriptions of leprosy. This book has plenty to offer of humor, observation, insight. It is so much more than just a dismal treatise on despair. Warmly recommended.

This is a very well written book. One of the main issues with programming books now days is that if you don't already have a background in that language they tend to be hard to understand. This book thankfully fixed that problem and is easy to understand even for those who have never programmed with JavaScript.

Great Guide for Beginners and Pro's

This book covers from all the different box desgins that have been made and how you can create any type of box for you're home. Having it sound as good or better than a speaker box you would buy at an Audiophile store for $2,000 to $6,000 for a fraction of the price. It also gives you multiple web pages to explore about crossover calculators, box calculators and just other websites of other peoples creations and they show you how they built what they did. Partsexpress is one of the websites I did a lot of my purchasing through, they are fast and have a great selection of speaker's and components. They also have a do it yourself page with multiple projects from various people that have submitted their ideas and box designs. All of which you can create the exact same box as they did do to the fact that they give you all the blue prints, crossover design's and other good information. This book will help you understand so many speaker building techniques and the way's it all comes together in the end.

I reccomend this book to all that have a desire in building their own home theater system and reccomend you read many more books on the subject. The more you know the better you will be and the better it will all sound.

Seems to be a good book

I haven't made it through the whole book but it seems to have lots of useful equations and a little bit of theory for building speakers. I am just getting into speaker building so I don't have a lot of knowledge of what is good and what is useless info. I haven't built any speakers yet so I don't know if this particular info is good for making top notch speakers.

The book was a waste of money. It had very little useful information, and the information it did contain was so rudimentary that anyone who has a desire to build a really good speaker system would be better advised to purchase a more informative and better written alternative. The examples were few, and the aim of the book seemed to be chiefly concerned with buiding speaker systems for automobiles, something I have no interest in doing.

Rosetta Stone for Nepali

I bought it for someone else whose native language is English and wanted to learn Nepali. I am a native speaker of Nepali and by listening through the CDs and going through the phrase book, I can say that great care was taken to come up with such a good product for a reasonable price. In the past, I have bought other books from Nepal for the very person to learn Nepali but those books were not very friendly in terms of learning Nepali. We all wish there was Rosetta Stone for Nepali language but probably there is not much demand for such a niche language.The item comes with 3 audio cds and a handy phrase book. This product will not do miracles and make you hold complex conversation in Nepali, but will help you lay a solid foundation of Nepali that you can build upon. If you master this book/cd, you will be able to hold simple conversations and be able to figure out things.
Most of the people speak English in Kathmandu-the capital city of Nepal, but tourists can find this product very helpful. However, this is not your Lonely Planet guide to Nepal or language conversion dictionary. You will have to study the book and follow the CDs before you embark on your journey.

The CDs are audio CDs that can be played on CD/DVD/Blue Ray players, laptops. If your are technically curious, the files in the CDs are in .cda format. If you want to be able to listen to CDs on your mp3 player or other portable devices, you will have to convert the .cda format to .mp3 format and then put the lessons on your portable device. There are numerous softwares that copy and convert audio CDs to mp3 format and couple of those are Windows Media Player, Nero that come loaded on most of laptops/computers.

Good pace and great content

I like the layout of the program, stating with the alphabet and vowels. The pace is good and the voice is relatively clear. This is my favorite Nepali pack yet and I can confidently recommend it as a good starting point for anyone who wants to learn Nepali.

Wonderful Book and CDs

The book and CDs are extremely helpful. The woman's voice is pleasant and she speaks very clearly. The book follows along with what is on the CD perfectly. Helpful grammar points are written in the beginning of the book. The speaker says each phrase twice. They are short, everyday sentences that one would use in daily conversation.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who would like to visit Nepal or has Nepalese neighbors. It was so much better than I expected and it is a very reasonably-priced book. The book fits easily in a purse so you can study the language as you go about your day.

Don't Bother

I must echo the previous review. This guide is a complete waste of money. It has shrunk from over 900 pages to about 500, and much of that is back-ground and cultural information. (And it would be even smaller if they hadn't decided, for reasons unknown, to include 40 pages on Morocco -- a country which boasts its very own 500 page guidebook.)
There is no coverage at all of Mali, Niger or Guinea, due to the current dangers of traveling there.

And rather than, sensibly, devoting more pages and more detailed coverage to those countries that CAN be visited safely, those chapters are much smaller than in previous editions -- typically about half the size. (15 pages on Gambia; 20 on Benin vs. 30 and 40 in the last edition.)Given that West Africa is a part of the world where good travel info is hard to find on the internet (few hotels, except the top of the line ones, have websites, there are few reviews on travel sites), this is a part of the world where travelers are going to need to still rely on the printed word, and where LP could have, and should have, stepped up to the plate.

If they didn't feel it safe or worthwhile to visit West Africa, they shouldn't have bothered with this new edition at all.

Lonely Planet Shouldn't Have Bothered...

This guidebook is a piece of crap, to be frank. LP has removed most of the useful info like most maps and dropped many smaller destinations completely. Much of the info (especially in the Ghana section) is quite incorrect. Use a different guidebook.

I have to agree with the others. There isn't a lot of information in this book. Don't even buy it if your looking for information on Guinea, Mali or Niger. Those chapters only have a few pages of cultural and historical information due to "few travelers" heading to those countries.
